Meet member Owen, the director of the Law firm Vermeylen Law. This Bristol based law firm serves clients not only locally but nationally and abroad. After getting a philosophy degree at Durham University, he was supported by a Major Scholarship from Middle Temple Inn of Court in London and then went on to complete the Bar Vocational Course, then being called up to the bar in 2009.
From that point, he joined a leading London law firm before practising as a solicitor in Bristol and Bath. He is a Fully Accredited Member of Solicitors for the Elderly, a community of trusted advisors, professionally highly qualified and regulated who are experts on working with elderly and at-risk clients. Owen prides himself on his professional expertise and his sympathetic, caring manner when supporting clients.
The coffee and company here in the office attracted Owen to Raw Space and now he’s been here for more than 8 months. Residing himself in the ‘Eagles Nest’ in Raw Space: a private collaborative office off the side of the main space, he spends most of his days answering calls, emails and doing client work as well as running the Vermeylen Law Firm.
Owen gave some advice for those just starting out,
“Start with the difficult stuff”, beginning with the tough work forces you to not cut corners or avoid it until it’s too late.
Owen has fully immersed himself into the community of the office, balancing the tight time and long list of tasks of running a law firm with socialising and connecting with a small business community. Fully understanding the benefits of community, support and socialising has made Owen a hugely valuable member of the community.
