There is no doubt that apps rule our day to day lives. From catching up with people to filling time, from ordering food and booking a holiday, there will be an app for that. As a freelancer, small business owner, or simply anyone that uses Raw Space, there are so many apps out there that can benefit you. We have rounded up some of our favourites. Some are designed to make your life easier, some are just great for life in Bristol.

Beebooked is the perfect app for all things freelance. It was developed by Emily Kent and Faye Dicker and is very fresh on the scene. You can use it for both finding freelancers, and as a freelancer looking to lend your services. The app provides a roundup of freelancers in Bristol, showing where they’re based, and putting you in contact with them. It already has a wealth of users from tutors and personal trainers, to tech support and digital marketers.

Bristol Pound

Here in Bristol, we are lucky enough to have loads of cool, independent shops and businesses. To support these the Bristol pound was invented in 2015 with the aim of keeping money within Bristol, make a fairer economy, and stop money leaking back to distant head offices. The Bristol Pound is available in both paper and digital versions (on the app) and can be used in lots of small, independent businesses throughout the city.

As a freelancer, it can be hard to manage your finances so FreshBooks is great for the client side of things. It allows you to create professional-looking invoices, bill recurring invoices, and accept credit cards on your phone. You can also create business reports, and organise expenses from anywhere.

Slack is an instant messaging platform, great for communication between your team. It stands out because you can organise things into separate private or public channels (for example by department). There is also no limit to how many people you can add. To top it all off, it’s so easy to send files such as PDFs, images or videos, and it automatically archives them all.

Another one of our favourite apps is Wriggle. Wriggle offers lots of great deals daily for food, drink and events all around Bristol. If you’re looking for a delicious bargain lunch, or are planning on meeting a friend for drinks after work then be sure to head to Wriggle so you don’t miss out!

At work, it is so easy to get distracted and procrastinate. RescueTime is great because it makes you aware of the time you’re spending. It automatically tracks the time you’ve spent on apps and gives you detailed reports on this. You can also set it to send you alerts when you’ve spent a certain amount of time on an app, and block websites.

TripIt is the ultimate app for any kind of travelling whether it’s for business or pleasure. No matter what website you buy tickets from, TripIt organises them all your plans into one itinerary. Just forward all your travel related emails on to them and it sorts it for you! It also allows you to check departure times, delays, find directions to the airport and see weather forecasts.

KanbanFlow is amazing for organisation and keeping on track of everyone’s work. You can do pretty much everything including assign tasks, upload documents and files, schedule due dates and visualize overall workflow. You can divide tasks into subtasks, and select to only see tasks assigned to you or someone on your team.

MailChimp is the go-to for creating and managing mailing lists. It allows you to easily create and send out newsletters and customise emails. You can also see reports on how well your campaigns are doing so it’s easy to see how to improve.

If you enjoy heading to live music events and nights out then Headfirst is the place for you. It has a summary of all the musical events happening in Bristol and allows you to buy and store tickets in the app. Sometimes it even works out cheaper because you don’t have to pay the booking fee!
